Orefield, PA – Sept. 10, 2010 – Ryan Bedford, American speed skater and member of the 2010 U.S. Olympic speed skating team, has signed on as a spokesperson for DelCorean’s Cramp911. The 23-year-old athlete, who won the 2009 World Championship in the 5000m men’s short track speed skating, is the only speed skater in the world to qualify for both long and short track World Championship events. Bedford has set his sights on competing in both categories at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
A long-time sufferer of muscle cramps, Bedford was introduced to the OTC topical muscle relaxer Cramp911 by a family friend while he was leading a youth skating clinic in Bethlehem, PA. Cramp911 struck a chord with Ryan because of the extreme muscle soreness and leg cramps he experiences after long hours of training. Bedford says, “I find that I’m especially prone to leg cramps after I’ve worked out really hard. I frequently get struck with muscle cramps when I’m sleeping or just relaxing at home.” In addition to training for long track and short track speed skating events, Ryan also maintains his peak conditioning by cycling, weight lifting, running and inline skating. In any given week, his training typically exceeds six hours a day, but prior to his competitive season, it is not uncommon for him to train upwards of 40 hours a week. Starting in October, Ryan will compete in the World Cup Qualifiers for both short track and long track events. His competition season will take him to Europe, China and across the U.S. During these events, Bedford will proudly display the Cramp911 logo on his warm-up hat and on the shoulder of his uniform.
According to Bedford, “I’m excited to work with the team at Cramp911, and to experience the benefits of this product in competition and in training.” Keith DelPrete, a pharmacist and inventor of Cramp911, is pleased to have Ryan as the company’s spokesperson. Says DelPrete, “Ryan is a World Champion in two sports. He represents hard work, integrity and outstanding character, and for those reasons, we are very excited to have Ryan representing our brand. We look forward to his participation in events that will promote Cramp911 to all people who suffer with muscle cramps and muscle soreness – world class athletes or weekend warriors.”
